SECOND POSSIBILITY

What about the time when the experimenters turned on the counter after the atom got through the slit, and the atom shot through to the back with no pattern? We can describe this process if you accept the following: According to Relativity, time stands still for a photon traveling at the speed of light. Perhaps time at the quantum level stands still or even runs backwards. Then to us, the events appear to take place in the following order (in slow motion):

  1. The counter is off.
  2. The atom goes through the two slits like a wave intending to make the pattern.
  3. The counter is turned on before the atom passes in front of it which disturbs the atom and affects the quantum potential.
  4. The potential sends a signal back in time to the atom before the atom got to the slit changing the potential in the past.
  5. The atom travels like a particle and hits the back screen in a straight line because a message came from the future alerting the atom that it will be disturbed.

By now you probably feel a bit disturbed yourself. Maybe we should have stayed on the subject of cats. But just think if you were like an atom and could get warning messages from the future. Wouldn't that have come in handy before you ate that last burrito?
